IDB Academy

The purpose of IDB Academy is to pass on to a variety of medical professionals around the world (doctors, surgeons, nurses, instrumentalists, aesthetic practitioners, etc.) the maximum amount of information on any topics that may be of interest to know, from a surgical technique to a simple lymphatic drainage to readying head and hair for facelift surgery to preparing a surgical instrument table.

We impart in-person courses with cadaver dissection and daily surgical operations for 4 days a week, supported with conferences and commentary on the cases seen in theatre, explaining all aspects necessary for understanding and executing a technique in medicine or aesthetic surgery.

Webinars and online courses, hour-long discussions on cutting-edge subjects of concrete interest, presented by one or more experts in specific topics.

Also available will be brief, highly specific themes denominated PILLS, shown on videos lasting from 2 to 5 minutes. For example, how a patient’s head and hair will be made ready for facial surgery; a surgical instrument table; fixing the tracheal tube for anaesthesia; post-VASER or post-lift lymphatic drainage, etc. The IDB Academy comprises experienced professionals from all fields of medicine and cosmetic surgery and from all those areas associated with them.

Depending on the activity in question, different entities and also national and international professionals will be involved whose contribution can be crucial in uniting different points of view on a specific topic.

We can also announce the project of creating a section for consulting complex cases in an encrypted manner, with the opinion of the professors who make up the consultative board.

I have always thought, observing the evolution of techniques, of images, of pharmaceutical products, of anaesthesia itself, of the postoperative period, etc., that it was impossible to keep up or be up to date on all those aspects while also trying not so much to be the best but to simply be good at everything.

For this reason, right from the start of the Institute, I suggested to the surgeons from the speciality that they should form part of it, that they should specialize in parts of the body, in treatments, in techniques different to mine and to those of the other colleagues who over time joined the medical group, until the present day when we have around nine professionals who comprise the IDB medical team.

They are specialists who have visited the best practitioners of specific techniques, who have trained with great professionalism and also honesty, a crucial aspect of our work with patients, and who are still receiving ongoing training to provide safer, more effective techniques that are also cutting-edge in medicine and cosmetic surgery, in the facet we call beauty, the first pillar of our Institute.

We have also expanded, and continue to expand, different departments in regard to other of the Institute’s pillars, such as health and wellbeing.

The genetics department launched twelve years ago and we have recently added the obesity department with more than five professionals that make of IDB a worldwide benchmark and a centre of reference in training physicians and surgeons belonging to the field of beauty, health and wellbeing.

Together with a further five groups, in the early nineteen-eighties we pioneered immediate breast reconstruction after cancer surgery and the application of chorionic gonadotrophin in slimming; in the nineteen-nineties we were the first in the world to introduce anatomical breast implants; endoscopic imaging techniques in facelifts and in breast augmentation via axillary approach; we created the first laser platform in Spain; in the early 2000s we drafted guides for the use of anatomical implants, which had gone from 4 to 12 different types; in 2008 we presented on a worldwide scale the micro-cone suture technique for facelifts, avoiding overfilling; in 2016, in Spain we pioneered VASER and then Microaire high-definition liposculpture, creating the first platform for this kind of technique, and we currently continue to offer innovative techniques with deep plane facials, facial feminization, techniques for lipoedema, and much more.

In genetics, and especially in neurological disorders such as autism and ADHD, we have one of the best geneticists worldwide whose methods in applied genetics in the clinic have been adopted in medical universities in the United States as well as in other countries such as Saudi Arabia.

This is why, thanks to this huge fund of knowledge, this vast professional medical arsenal available to us thanks to all the specialists who form part of the IDB Medical Group, there can be no greater satisfaction for us than to wish to share it with colleagues from around the world through the possibilities provided by belonging to IDB ACADEMY.
